Sensual massage is massage given for arousal rather than treatment. It is the broadest term in the category, which also makes it the vaguest, and that is the single most useful thing to know about it.
Why it varies so much
Tantric has a tradition behind it. Nuru has a defining technique and a specific gel. Sensual has neither. It describes an intention rather than a method, so two practitioners both offering it can be describing noticeably different sessions.
That is not evasiveness on their part. There is simply no standard to point at. It does mean the word on its own tells you less than people assume, and that asking is not rude but necessary.
What a session usually involves
A warm room, oil, a table or a mat, and a full body massage at an unhurried pace. Sixty to ninety minutes is typical. Most practitioners will talk through what is and is not included before starting, and a good one will ask what you are hoping for rather than guessing.
Almost all of it is incall, because the room, the warmth and the setup are doing real work and none of that travels to a hotel.
What to confirm when you book
- How long the session runs
- What it does and does not include, in her words rather than your assumption
- Whether there is a shower, and whether it is part of the session
- Whether she has training in bodywork, if that matters to you
How it compares
If you want the slow, meditative version, tantric is the one. If you want something more physical and distinctive, nuru. The comparison guide puts all three side by side, and the happy ending page covers where the legal lines sit and how to tell a licensed therapeutic practice from an adult one.
